Building Ecommerce sites is a very exciting venture. It is also a lot of work. Organization is really the key to success. We are in the Ecommerce business, which means we operate our own sites that make money. Because we are in the business we have a vested interest in capturing more sales and improving our sites. Everything we do for ourselves, we do for our clients. We break down the process into small segments so that it is not overwhelming for you.
Step 1 Choose your product market. We encourage to make it as niche specific as possible. For example if you choose “children’s toys” We would encourage you to specialize in a certain age and style of toy. For example “educational toys” would be a better niche and allow you to build, develop and dominate for that particular product line. Step 2 Know thy competition. We would do a competition research report and find out who the players are in your field of interest. We look at their sites and find weaknesses in their design and marketing strategies. Step 3 Choose a vessel. This is where you choose to use a vendor such as Yahoo or Finest Shops to host and support your storefront. Picking a good and dependable host lessens aggravation. Step 4 Choose products If you already have this step worked out, no problem. If not, you will need to decide if you are going to be inventory based or drop shipped based. Step 5 We build your site while you build your content. You need to have all the product descriptions and images ready to plug in when the site is designed. Getting articles together also will give you some content for the site which yields a lot of credibility with the search engines. Logo design is also encouraged at this step since its part of the site design and can be used on your business cards and other promotional items. Step 6 Plug in the content, configure your shipping and add your credit card processor. It sounds like a lot, but you can be up and running in no time. Step 7 Promote. This is where the rubber meets the road. Anyone can have a pretty site designed, that is easy. Promoting it is where you will pull out ahead of your entire competitors. It’s important to think of this as a marathon, not a sprint. |
